4x5 and 3x6 Blocks Received :)

I've received all of my 3rd quarter bee blocks from the 4x5 and 3x6 Bees and aren't they just gorgeous?!

With one more round of the 4x5 bee I'll have enough blocks to make this sweet quilt complete. I can't believe how well all the colours and fabrics have come together despite 12 different people contributing blocks.

Thanks ladies, I really love each and every one of them!!

Blogger's Quilt Festival

It's Blogger's Quilt Festival time again, and I'm so excited to be participating for the second time! Today I wanted to share my most recently completed quilt, it was made for my newest nephew Noah.

It's a postage stamp quilt of sorts, made up of 648 little squares in this cot sized scottie dog quilt. I made it using orange and aqua scraps to keep it gender neutral as my sister and her husband didn't know they were having a boy until he was born. I straight line quilted it approximately a 1/4 inch from vertical seams.

When I walked into my favourite quilt shop and saw Laurie Wisbrun's Urban Circus Elephants I knew it would be perfect for the back of the quilt. I love it!

The eyes of the scottie dogs are made from yoyos.

I made this quilt to match the softie and pillow that I made for my sister for her baby shower.

I loved making this quilt. I love accuracy and symmetry in quilting and it gave me an opportunity to practice both.

Thanks for stopping by!! Don't forget to check out some more of the wonderful quilts on display at Blogger's Quilt Festival.

Pillow Talk Swap 6 - Put Your Sunnies On!!

I've finally completed my partner's pillow for the Pillow Talk Swap 6. I've participated in a few block swaps before but this has been my first real swap. I've really enjoyed seeing what everyone has been creating for each other in the flickr group.

My partner did say that she likes bright ... so BRIGHT it is ....... I hope you like it partner!!

The front of the pillow is made with Sandi Henderson's Henna Garden prints and Kaffe Fassett shot cottons. I have straight line quilted it and it fits a 20 inch pillow form.

The pinwheels on the back are also Shot Cottons and Henna Garden and the main print is Asian Circles in yellow by Kaffe Fassett.

Here's one of the 3D pinwheels close up. They were really easy and fun to make!!

The colours are a little off as the sun was so bright, it's not quite so fluoro in reality.

This is the first time I've used a zip closure in a pillow and I must admit I was a little afraid at first, but it came together really well and I will definately try it again. I used this tutorial.

I hope you enjoy it partner ... if not, feel free to send it back. This bright rainbow pillow has sure been putting some sunshine into my days!!
