Quilt As You Go

I really loved this baby quilt when I saw it at A Quilt is Nice blog and I also wanted to try the quilt as you go technique found here at sew take a hike. So I purchased a Once Upon a Time panel and this is what I've come up with so far .....

I found the straight line quilting fun and very manageable and I am enjoying using solid fabric. I think it makes the quilting stand out more. I considered blending the thread colour to the fabric but decided to go with white in the end so that the quilting would be more of a feature (not just because I felt lazy and couldn't be bothered changing the thread :)

Each block is approx 13 x 14 inches. Two down and 14 more to go.

The quilt as you go quilt along round 2 is currently happening over at A La Mode Fabric. I'm not quite ready for round 2 as I haven't completed my first quilt, but it looks like fun.
